I don’t know many details about my family history. What I do know is that my family on both my mom and dad’s side were put on farms and not in camps — that’s how we ended up in Southern Alberta. Our history is pretty fuzzy for a couple of reasons:
- people didn’t want to talk about it; and
- other people didn’t want to ask too many questions (probably because of point 1, above).
I once asked my grandpa how our family ended up on a farm and not in a camp. He mentioned that he thought it might have something to do with the fact that a camp was a bit dangerous for a single mother like his. But I don’t think he really even knew.
