I (he/him) was born in Vancouver, BC on the unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations in June of 1989.
Currently, I am in the process of working towards the completion of a PhD in kinesiology and health studies at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. Broadly, my research centers around the improvement and optimization of youth sport programming in hopes of facilitating long-term sport participation. Outside of school, the majority of my time is spent coaching youth ice hockey at a variety of levels.
I am comfortable identifying as Japanese Canadian (JC) as I have always felt incredibility welcome and cared-for within many of the JC community groups based in the greater Vancouver area. I am grateful for having made many wonderful friends and having had the benefit of learning from a variety of mentors and role-models through this community.
