Anne Yukiko Chen

I (she/her) was born in March of 2001 in Hamilton, Ontario. When I’m not at school, I live with my family in Burlington, Ontario. I am currently studying at Brock University in my third year of the concurrent education program. When I finish my program I hope to become a middle school math teacher.

I identify as Chinese and Japanese Canadian. My father is Chinese and mother is Japanese-Canadian, so I feel that I am influenced by the cultures from both sides of my family. I was also born in Canada and because of that I first and foremost identify as Canadian. On the Japanese side, our mother is a Nakamura (grandfather Mikio Nakamura and grandmother Yukiko Nakamura nee Arai).

Sean Mikio Chen

I (he/him) was born in August of 2002 in Hamilton and grew up in Burlington, Ontario. I am currently living in Toronto for school and I am in my second year at X University (formerly known as Ryerson).

I identify as Asian Canadian. As a Canadian, I feel that my Asianness is something that can never be separated from my identity; Chinese and Japanese-Canadian culture have both largely influenced who I am, but I couldn’t say that I identify fully with one culture alone. On the Japanese side, our mother is a Nakamura (grandfather Mikio Nakamura and grandmother Yukiko Nakamura nee Arai).
