Mike Abe

Michael Abe is a Sansei, currently living in Victoria, British Columbia. He has a B.Sc in Biology from McMaster University.

He has been involved in the Japanese Canadian community in Hamilton and now in Victoria, as a past president and former newsletter editor for the Victoria Nikkei Cultural Society.

Michael has recently resumed his martial arts training, both as an instructor of Yoshinkan Aikido and as a beginner student of Shorin Ryu Karate. His other hobbies include golf, sumi-e, shuji, and reading Japanese novels.

Most recently he was the project manager for Landscapes of Injustice, a research project that focussed on the dispossession and forced sale of property owned by Japanese Canadians during the 1940s.
